History of ETEI, Baripada

The Government Elementary Teacher Training Institution, Baripada, has a rich historical legacy tracing back to the pre-independence era. Initially established as a Cottage Industry Training Center, it focused on equipping individuals with skills in traditional crafts and trades. Over the years, with changing educational needs, it evolved into a Guru Training School in the late 1970s, emphasizing the professional preparation of teachers.
In its early stages, the institution was exclusively dedicated to women’s education and was known as the Women Secondary Training School. However, it later transitioned into a co-educational institution, broadening its scope and inclusivity. In 2024, the institution was officially renamed the Government Elementary Teacher Training Institution, reflecting its pivotal role in shaping elementary education and teacher training in the region.
The institution continues to uphold its legacy by adapting to modern educational demands while preserving its historical roots.
